That is that no more posts

I have decided that with me starting my personal trainer course on Wednesday and with all the extra time i will need to dedicate to it in terms of studying and more training I feel it impracticle to continue writing posts on this blog. I don't seem to have many readers out there and so really the world of sports blogging will not miss too much. I must thank all those that have contributed with comments though and in particular to the gentleman that left a comment just after I started the challenge 100. I will continue to update the monthly results page with profit / loss figures but not post. All the best to everyone and thanks for reading, keep on laying those greyhounds!

On holiday

I have the week off work from next week which I can't wait for and am off to London tomorrow (early) for the day where I hope to pick up some new clothes as beginning to feel a bit old in the ones I have worn to death. As I am off and need access to more cash today I have had to make a large transfer from my betting account to 'borrow' some money until other funds come through so there is little point really in doing much in the next few days. If i do it will probably be to very small stakes as there is only just over a ton left in there at the moment until things can settle down. It is a little unfortunate really as with time on my hands thoughts were turning to finally looking at making use of the free bets that I normally talk about but without the cover funds to lay off the bets it will have to be put on hold. If I don't manage to gather anymore profit for the rest of the month it will be fine as it has been a great month for me and the original 'challenge 100' is actually starting to take great shape which is a fantastic bonus and discipline is starting to look like it is happening. I bumped into an old mate the other night and we were talking about our gambling experiences and at the end of the day we both agreed that we had done some silly things but were it not for those times we wouldn't be where we are now on the road to profit. No wiser thing said and we are only early 30's. Have a good one if you are getting involved and see you sometime late next week.

£21 for ten minutes

Just a quick post again for today. I waited for the first greyhound race this morning at 11.03am placed my bet and again a note popped up to say inable to match due to exposure limit etc etc. So with this I looked at Australian greyhounds again and my first bet was a £12 win bet on a even money favourite, after backing it the price shortened to 1.83 so I was fairly happy with my decision and was duly rewarded. After this I took part in two further races where i laid the favourites and so all in all it was three profitable bets out of three and a good return for the few minutes that I invested. I have decided to leave it there as suffering with a mega headache and very tired so that sort of scenario tends to lend itself to a crashing day which I am not prepared to let it happen. Hopefully tomorrow i can be back in the UK! - markets that is.....

A little frustrating

With my account I have made use of the features regarding 'player protection' as they call it. Suffice to say I feel as if I am locked in a barracade with no way to get out! I set up a loss limit of £50 per week as wanted to try and ensure that if I had a wobbly moment I wouldn't end up doing my entire bank of cash in one awful day. I am a bit annoyed with it now as for some reason I can't have a bet in the UK markets as apparently I have hit my exposure limit. If I look under my profit and loss in the last seven days I am well in profit so I guess somewhere along the line I have hit a £50 loss and despite me being in profit overall this has kick - started the exposire limit. This has taught me that I really should record all my bets as to be honest I don't have a clue of losing £50 but I guess I must have done. Basically at the moment the only markets that can be accessed are those in Australia so really I have had a few enforced days off except today where I played around in the dog markets there and came away with a good profit of £35.16. I would love to get back in the UK markets but until I can reset the exposure limits I will have to sit and wait - hopefully by the end of the week things will be back to normal. ******I may aswell just add to this post which I was going put up on Monday. Short story is I still cannot access any UK markets so what time I did spend betting was again on the Aussie stuff this morning. All in all it was good work and yielded in three sucessful lays on the horses returning £34 which is fantastic. I am off to London at the weekend for a bit of shopping which some of it will come out of my winnings here I hope to be able to make around £30 on the UK dogs by the weekend which wil pay for things like food, beer and tube tickets etc. All in all I can't complain things have been going very well and I have rewarded myself with a Ipod touch and dinner out last weekend, I will do a summary write up at the end of the month and hope to be able to provide a breakdown of profit / loss on the sports from October as this month things are all split in between Aussine and English stuff and my records are truly dreadful - well non existent would be a better description. Hope you are all being profitable. Nath

Anyone know how to put up a screen shot?

Greyhound Racing: £32.10 Total P&L: £32.10 Greyhound Racing Showing 1 - 7 of 7 markets Firstly I would like to be able to put up a screen shot of my betting account from time to time to reflect the day's activities but what i try doesn't work, can anyone help on this? The above attempted screen shot reflects just how good the dogs can be. I logged on for the first race at 11.03am yesterday (Thursday) and had positive results in all seven races - unbelievable. Now I am not saying that this is always the case as it isn't but it just goes to show there is scope for some confidence behind laying suitable priced favourites on the greyhounds. As you can see the profit levels have rocketed and again this is mainly due to the horses! I made good profits on them yesterday after the seven race dog spree and this morning I added another £40 or so to the pot from the dogs although I did have a £20 win bet on a trap three after watching it get heavily backed in the markets while I was weighing up whether to lay the dog or not but the money made the decision easy. So I am currently on a betting bank of £499 one short of £500 in the challenge 100 which is fantastic and means that when I eventually get back to just sticking to greyhounds I can look forward to a decent return on each bet hopefully approching the £9 mark which will hopefully add up to a good little income and more importantly boost my soon to be reduced work wages once i start college. I have to say though that I have treated myself to a Ipod touch today as a present, I have very rarely been able to have something to show for my betting exploits apart from the odd dinner out etc so I got a cheap deal on this and got it. I have a interview at college tonight to get on my course then if all goes well will pop out tonight for a bite to eat and a proper dinner with the girlfriend the weekend. Must go as got the days racecards to look at!

Jamie Kyne & Jan Wison RIP

The horse I put up yesterday didn't come anywhere unsurprisingly for the price it was and I have to admit it did drift like a barge after I had backed it, still my small stakes reflected this but I will continue to look out for the trainer/ jockey combination. On a different note I have to say how very said I am at the loss of the two young jockeys at the weekend Jamie Kyne & Jan Wilson. The career they had gone into is a very dangerous one and one that they both loved, to die in such a tragic way is simply awful, perhaps if it was on a racecourse although it would be a tragedy perhaps you could kind of understand it but in the circumstances they died it is just awful and bewildering. I had limited knowledge of both Jockeys up until about three weeks ago, I actually started to back some of Jamie's rides as notcied he was banging in a few winners and I think he gave me a winner only last week or possibly the week before - he was definitely showing his class and had a top career ahead of him as has been noted. Jan I have to say I was not familiar with but she must have had guts to want to be a jockey and obviously had a talent as I believe she had just turned professional and the fact that she was doing well in a male dominated sport showed her talent and strength of character. I have noticed there has been a tribute page set up on Facebook for both the young Jockeys - I have joined and hopefully you may well like to join also. Speaking of horseracing the pull these nags are giving me at the moment is just crazy I guess it is the winning if you keep making a profit on them the more likely you are to stick with them. My problem in the past has been discipline - many a time I have made good money quickly on the horses only to have a couple of bad days and wipe out all the profit and is is purely down to the D word. It is this frustrating habit I have that led me to look at doing the dogs and is why I see my long term future in them. For now though the Horses have done me proud, last night I caught some of the last racing action of the day and hit two consecutive winners: Nana Rose and Jettymarc over in Clonmel plus two good dogs later on which gave another big boost to the pot. Just had my play for today in the opening couple of greyhound races both favourites were beaten and I retire for the day a hefty £6.36 better off.

Sea the Stars

When a great racehorse comes along you have to stick with it no matter what rules you have and keep the faith... this is precisely what I did this weekend in the main. I have to admit that on Friday night I got sucked into the horses yet again albeit sucessfully by having a small bit each way on Abhainn in the 4.40 at Chepstow which won nicely at 9.0 to kickstart the good fortune, David Probert is a jockey in form that was why I did it - if you can catch these in form riders they really pay dividends. That was that for the weekend apart from the big race on Saturday, I had been saving my penniess and bets for this horse, I backed him last out when I got virtually 2/1 for the horse so I was looking at having a reasonably big bet on Sea the Stars this weekend. Although he was even money I thought for a superhorse it was value so I had a fair bit on it in comparison to my greyhound stakes. This has definately given me a good cushion for my little £100 bank. Onto today then and I had three sucessful lays in the first few races of the morning adding a another £17 to the pot. There is a Willie Muir/ Martin Dwyer horse 'Anagram' running in the 3.40 at Bath this afternoon, as seen as this is one of my trainer/jockey combos I will have a little each way if price is reasonable. *******Just to let you know I have put £3 on the place at 5.30 & £2 win @ 25.0******
